About the Owner
Mankama is originally from a town called Damongo in northern Ghana but became a Yinzer through marriage in April of 2013. Since then, he's paid his dues, spending countless hours in bridge and tunnel traffic and eating his fair share of pierogies and french fry-stuffed sandwiches. He's also a devout Steelers fan and, in the fall, can be found waiving a terrible towel and yelling at his TV on game days.
In addition to his love of the 'Burgh, Mankama is an avid nature lover whose spent most of his life living off of the land. From his infancy, his mother would carry him daily to their family farm outside of Damongo. And as soon as he could walk, he was using a hand plow. Farming paid his way through school and, eventually, college. He was the first in his family to go.
Mankama has a certificate in Horticulture Technology from Bidwell Training Center and has spent the last three years working as a professional landscaper throughout the city. PGH LAWN gives Mankama the opportunity to branch out on his own and do what he loves most: spend time in the outdoors, breathing in fresh air and getting his hands dirty.
